Professor Dr. Thomas Groß

Professor of Public Law, European Law and Comparative Law

After his studies in Law in Tübingen, Genève and Heidelberg, he worked from 1988 - 1998 as an assistant of Prof. Dr. Schmidt-Aßmann at the Institute for German and European Adminatrative Law of the University of Heidelberg. In 1992 he qualified as Doctor iuris utriusque and in 1998 he finished the Habilitation with the venia legendi for Constitutional and Administrative Law, Comparative Law and Administrative Sciences.

From 1999 - 2010 he was Professor of Public Law, Comparative Law and Administrative Sciences at the law school of University of Gießen. In 2007 he founded the first Refugee Law Clinic in Germany. In 2010/11 he taught as a Professor of Public Law, Environmental Law and Administrative Sciences at the University of Frankfurt am Main.

Since 2011 he is Professor of Public Law, European Law and Comparativve Law at the University of Osnabrück. From 2016 - 2018 he acted as the Dean of The Law School. He is a member of the Institute for Migration Resaerch and Intercultural Studies (IMIS) and of the European Group of Public Law

He held visiting teaching positions at the University Law School Madison/Wisconsin (USA), Law University Vilnius (Lithuania), Université de Bretagne Occidentale Brest (France), University of Warwick (Great Britain) and Istanbul Kültür Üniversitesi (Turkey).

His main research areas are European Administrative Law, Comparative Public Law, Migration Law, Environmental Law and Science Law.
